Using a Telus monthly bill as proof of address -- what a joke!!
I have lived at my current address for several years. For the past year I have taken to marking all mail delivered to this address, that isn't ours, with "NOT AT THIS ADDRESS", "MOVED", and even added detailed notes on the outside of the returned letter for persistent offenders. For the most part this has worked to stop the flow of mis-addressed mail. One major exception is a monthly Telus Bill.
After 8 months of marking the monthly bill with "MOVED", "NOT AT THIS ADDRESS" and more detailed explanations of years since this could not have been at this address, Telus kept on sending out the monthly bill to my address.
Recently we have tried sending an e-mail to Telus to complain and escalate if action wasn't forth coming. This actually got us a response, sort of...

December 11, 2007 -- CRTC web site electronic submission
For no less than eight (8) months, two of us have tried repeatedly and unsuccessfully to convince Telus that lying xxxx yyyyy (whoever he might be) of the mythical xxxx xxxxx Trading Company (no presence anywhere on the Internet) have no relationship to our address, xxxxxx Vancouver, B.C. We've been here for more than two years and neither of these entities has had any presence here during that time. We're very concerned about this character's use of the address for potentially nefarious purposes, especially as phone bills are often accepted as a method of identification.
Here's the email I received from Telus recently indicating Telus is handling the problem with typical efficiency and applomb:
-- see above for the Telus e-mail
Next steps? Waiting to hear from the CRTC regarding this Telus farce!!
