What ho excellent, tough but sensitive COUNTRY LIFE editor,

No praise is too high for your excellent work. Can't thank you enough for introducing me several issues back to brainiac Sir Howard Colvin, the maverick architectural historian who created the great dictionary of building. I was so impressed, we gave you a link at our gambling e-zine, the Roll & Shuffle, cross-linking it with another of our sites, this one on architecture and, more particularly, bad and in fact FAILED architecture - www.bccondos.ca.

As you can see, the magazine integrates especially well in our forums, giving us a much broader view of the real estate world - see How many houses are enough?, Why Labour's planning paper defies belief and Homebuyers in 2007 will be able to hedge their bets for more examples. Visitors are certainly pleased to be able to compare both architecture and property legislation in a variety of jurisdictions, so CL is very good for us. Appearing in quality blogs is generally thought to be a good marketing tool, though it doesn't appear to be as common in the UK as it is in North America. If you're as pleased with it as we are, we would be REALLY I do mean REALLY grateful for a subscription. As it is, we are forced to rummage through the stacks at the local library for last year's issues, which are occasionally gutted by zealous patrons - probably lawyers and judges and Defra-type people.

While one does not wish to be seen begging - simply not sporting - pride will goeth before a fall. Please think of yourself as poor old Pongo Twistleton's dynamite Uncle Fred, whose mission throughout a long and happy life was to spread sweetness and light wherever he went, especially during the odd foray into the fleshpots of London. Blogging CL is, as the great Wodehouse might put it, a good thing that must be pushed along.

Here's hoping,
