Its the Economy Stupid, So Vote Smart!! Leo's friend May 7, 2009 (version 0.3)
The Local News on CBC Early Edition Stories Indentifies the Economy As Issue #1 To Voters
Today, on the CBC Early Edition, there was a story about a voter poll indentifying
the economy as the number issue to voters (integrety of leadership was 2nd). In a second story, a CBC producer/reporter called
a North Van Liberal candidate to get a perspective on election issues, and yes, the Liberal candidate toed the party line, its
about the economy.
Fair enough. The economy is clearly important.
But lets look at what this means at BC level:
A large part of the BC economy depends on exports and ultimately the exports is what drives the BC economy. Yet, the
provincial politics have little influence over the wider Canadian, US, and World economy. So, a significant
part of the BC economy is beyond anything that any NDP or Liberal government can solve.
We have to wait for a more global recovery to fix the economy.
The provinical governments do participate in supporting trade, but the context for doing so has to be in
concert with the Federal Government, acting in the WTO and acting on bilateral trade agreements. Canada failed
miserably in the handling of the softwood lumber trade issue for many reasons. Fixes here probably fall
in the area of education at the secondary, post secondary and adult learning level. This is long term issue.
The best party to fix the gaps in out trade knowledge is the party that places the higher value on education.
For example, we need to get UBC and UV to start offering courses on International Trade / WTO to its law students.
Gordon Campbell has given us the BC Failed Housing Econonmy.
The BC Failed Housing Econonmy equals of all of those
condos you see under tarps everywhere in the lower mainland and across the whole of BC?
Gordon Campbell, the self described Real Estate Developer is championing BC's Failed Housing Economy
- riches unto the rich, eh!!
What has Gordon Campbell done to help consumers from losing their shirts on leaky condos? Nothing. Issues abound but there is
no legislative reforms.
Gordon Campbell has helped his friends the real estate developers and other ultra rich among us since
avoiding condo legislation reforms facilitates the BC Failed Housing Econonmy.
And why would Gordon Campbell do any condo reforms? BC's Failed Housing Econonmy
is the main plank in the Gordon Campbell economy. We have failed housing by BC government design intent!!
Leaky condos need frequent expensive
maintenance. This creates jobs and comsumes wood products. Local contractors no doubt can tells how many jobs
this creates and how many new pickup trucks they need to buy (Ford and GM love yu)
to charge around from work site to work site, how
much gas they burn each month, and on and on. Its all good says Gordo!.
Leaky condos don't last very long which creates reconstruction opportunities. Why build something that
will last for 100 years when you can build something every 20 to 30 years -- yes, says Gordo, the rebuild rate
allows for 3 to 5 times the profits for my ultra rich developer friends. Why change anything. It is all good. The ultra rich love you.
But Gordon Campbell, the friend of the ultra rich, and defender
of the BC Failed Housing Economy, has put paid to this initiative by giving landlords sweeping loopholes to raise rents
more than 100%.
Hm, your good Gordo. Your support of the ultra rich is unparalleled.
But, if you are
a renter, perhaps a victim of the BC Failed Housing Econonmy
then fight back. Listen to the advise in the You Tube video and act.
100 victims of the BC Failed Housing Econonmy acting to motivate 10 friends each to
get people in their building/hood out to vote would make a huge difference to your future and Gordon Campbell's future.
So do feel lucky? Can you trust Gordon Campbell to do anything other than continuing
the failed housing economy? No wonder small business loves Gordon Campbell. The BC Failed
Housing Economy lines their pockets while they fleece consumers!!
Say NO to Gordon Campbell and the Liberal Party Line-up on May 12th.
